Welcome

Welcome to Clara Macy Elementary School

Welcome to Clara Macy Elementary School, and thank you for taking the time to explore our website. The Macy School is a neighborhood, one storied elementary school, built in 1966. The school has 15 classrooms with an enrollment of 276 students in kindergarten through fourth grade. It is the mission of the school to provide each student with the highest quality education in a safe and healthy community based environment.

Our staff works hard to make Macy School a great place to be. Our incredibly dedicated staff works diligently to ensure that each child meets his or her full potential. Our goal is to celebrate individual accomplishments, demonstrate respect for each other and the world around us, foster lifelong learners, and guide all students as they become contributing members of society.

Here at Macy, we believe that the development of strong reading and math skills is important to the success of our students. Therefore, our students are provided with research based reading and math approaches. This year we have implemented enrichment blocks for students in grades 1-4. This block is a coordinated and systematic effort to provide additional time and support for learning. This daily instructional period enriches each student’s education in a specific subject area with a predetermined focus of instruction in a small group atmosphere.

To help students behave responsibly, we use the Second Step and Steps to Respect programs in our classrooms. Second Step helps students develop strong bonds to school, solve problems without anger, and treat others with compassion. The Steps to Respect program teaches students to recognize, refuse, and report bullying, be assertive, and build friendships. These social skills support academics and form the foundation for happy and healthy students.

We believe in open and honest communication between home and school. We strive to create partnerships with families and community members. We welcome and value parental involvement as an integral part of our school community.

Thank you for your interest in Macy School!
